Queries & pages

Find which Google Search queries and which pages of your site gain or lose clicks, and open any query to see its history.

Queries & pages overview

Open SEO → Queries & pages. The data comes from your brand’s Google Search Console, for Google web search on all devices. Choose 7, 28 or 90 days; each period is compared with the same number of days before it.

Period summary and what changed shows clicks, impressions and CTR with their change. It splits the change in clicks into the part caused by impressions and the part caused by CTR, counts new and disappeared queries, and lists the queries that grew and fell most.

How to find a query or a page

Switch between Queries and Pages. For queries, narrow the list to Non-branded, Branded or Not classified. Type in the search box to filter by text, and click a numeric column heading to sort.

For each query the table shows clicks, the change, impressions, CTR, average position, the page Google showed most and a Conclusion: the open recommendation that covers it. For each page it shows the same figures and the page’s State from the latest site audit, such as Closed from indexing or No recent Site check. Click a page to open its page audit.

Good to know Search Console hides rare and anonymized queries, so the sum over queries is lower than the site total. The table footer says when Search Console disclosed only part of the rows for some days.

How to export the table

Click Export CSV above the table. The file contains all rows that match the current tab, filters and search, not only the visible page, with the period, filters, source and limits written at the top. It opens in Excel and Google Sheets. Export is available on paid plans; on Free the button opens the plan comparison.

How to open a query

Click a query to open its page. It shows the recommendations for this query, its history in Google Search with clicks, impressions, CTR and average position, and Pages shown for the query with each page’s share of impressions. That list comes from Search Console data, not from a snapshot of the results page; for the actual results page, add the query to Rankings.

How to change whether a query is branded

On the query page, use the Branded query switch: Automatic, Branded or Non-branded. Automatic follows your brand names and domain; the page says which evidence was used. Members and above can change it.

To fix the classification for many queries at once, edit the brand’s names and Ambiguous words instead; see Brand.

How to mark a page as closed on purpose

Some pages should stay out of Google. Open the page in the page audit. When the page is closed from indexing, the Closed intentionally switch appears in the card with changes since the previous audit. Turned on, recommendations stop suggesting to open the page for search, and Monitoring does not open a recommendation for the page’s indexing or canonical problems. Members and above can change it.
