Help Understanding your results

Rankings

Follow where your site appears in Google results for your important queries, what the AI Overview cites and which other sites rank.

Rankings overview

Open SEO → Rankings. Rankings checks the queries you picked in Keywords in Google, in your brand’s market, down to position 20. The check runs once a week on the day of your scheduled scan, after the scan time, while automatic scans are on. The line above the table shows the market, depth and last check.

Positions are organic results only. Ads and other results features are shown next to the position but never counted as one. A query that is not in the top 20 shows Not in top 20; a check that could not run shows Check failed. These are different results, and neither is a number. A query added since the last check shows Not checked yet.

Rankings is available from the Starter plan. On Free the tab shows an example.

How to add queries to Rankings

Select queries in Keywords and add them to Rankings, use the row menu, or click Add queries on the Rankings tab. The counter shows how many queries of your plan’s limit are in Rankings. Members and above can add queries; Viewers see Rankings read-only.

Good to know When the set of queries changes, the screen says so. Compare positions query by query, not as a total across different sets.

How to read positions by query

By query lists each query with its category, the page of your site in the results, the position, the change since the previous check and the demand. Results features marks whether an AI Overview appears and cites you or a competitor, whether there are ads and whether «People also ask» is shown.

Click a query to open its page. It shows the position history, one mark per check, and the latest Google results stored for the query with a role for every result: you, a competitor, a platform or another site. The line above the results says when they were collected, for which device and by what: a Rankings check, research, an AI Overviews scan or a competitor analysis. Beside them are the AI Overview with its cited domains, Page types in the top 10 next to the type of your own page, and other results features such as related searches.

How to see which sites hold the results

By domain lists every domain found in the latest results for your queries: on how many queries it appears, its best position and how often it ranks above you. Switch between Businesses and Media, directories, marketplaces.

In Competitors shows whether a business is already tracked; a tracked competitor links to its SEO tab. A business that appears on at least 3 queries and at least 15% of your checked queries becomes a New candidate and also shows up among potential competitors in Competitors.

How to check now

  1. Click Check now.
  2. Read how many queries will be checked and how many manual checks are left this month.
  3. Confirm.

A manual check uses one unit per query, and every query in Rankings is checked. The monthly number of manual checks equals your plan’s Rankings query limit. If fewer are left than there are queries, the check cannot start. Only one check per brand runs at a time. The results refresh when the check finishes. Members and above can start a check.

How to choose the device

Use the Device switch to check Desktop or Mobile results. The choice applies to the next check.

Good to know If you move to a plan with a smaller limit, the queries added to Rankings last are paused first. Their history stays; a higher limit resumes them.

How to export rankings

Click Export CSV to download the latest position of every query with the page, change and AI Overview marks.
