Sources and competitor comparisons

Separate cited websites from named brands, and check the question set behind every comparison.

Read the cited sites

The sites cited most in the answers ranks domains from usable answers to questions without brand names. A domain counts once per answer even when that answer cites several of its URLs. The section gives the total domains and citations and shows a shortened top list with source categories.

These counts describe the report’s measured answers. They are not backlinks, visits, endorsements or the number of pages on a domain. A competitor’s own website and an external site discussing that competitor are different source types.

Use Sources to inspect URLs and brand-specific evidence. A domain cited alongside a competitor is not proof that your brand is absent from every page on it.

Read competitors within each category

The category cards and findings compare your brand with competitors named in the same open-question answer set. Check the category and service breakdown before comparing counts. Several competitors can be named in one answer. A missing rival is not evidence that no competitor exists in the market.

The separate company-name question table uses a different scope. The app’s Competitors page also offers time windows and filters that can differ from this saved report.

The current report does not reproduce the old standalone Google tracker, sentiment and potential-competitor slide sequence. Use Traffic & results for connected analytics, Sentiment for tone and Competitors to review candidates. Missing those old slides is not a zero result in those modules.

A citation, a brand mention and a visit are separate observations. Later changes after publication do not, by themselves, establish that the publication caused them.
