How AI Helps You Find What You're Looking For: Smart Search at Our Academy

You know that feeling, right? You’re searching for something online, and you know exactly what’s on your mind, but the right words just won’t come to you for the search bar. Like, maybe you’re new to our Supasaito Academy and you know what you want to find or do, but you just can’t remember all the exact terms. Or you recall watching a cool video on a topic, but you’ve forgotten the title and can’t find it. Regular search won’t help much here; it’s just looking for keywords. But what if search could actually understand what you meant?

Well, that’s precisely the problem we decided to solve when we launched our new search feature on the Supasaito Academy website. We really wanted our students to have a super easy way to find answers to their questions – quickly and accurately, even if they phrase things a bit unusually. And guess what? Artificial intelligence came to our rescue!

More Than Just Words: How We “Teach” AI to Read Our Lessons

Imagine our AI is a super attentive “reader,” but for it to really work its magic, we need to help it out a bit. Before it can answer your questions, it has to thoroughly study all our learning materials. Here’s how we do it:

1. We break everything into “meaningful chunks”: Our lessons, articles, and explanations are pretty long. We don’t just feed the AI everything at once. Instead, we break down each text into small, but complete, segments of meaning. Think of it like picking out individual paragraphs or key sentences, each carrying its own complete thought.
2. We turn thoughts into “digital fingerprints”: This is the coolest part! We take each of these “meaningful chunks” and transform it into a unique set of numbers – this is called an embedding. An embedding is a numerical representation of text that helps a computer understand its meaning. The amazing thing here is that texts similar in meaning will get very similar “digital fingerprints.” So even if they use completely different words, but talk about the same thing, their “fingerprints” will be super close!
3. We build our “idea library”: All these “digital fingerprints” (embeddings), along with the original text snippets and extra info about them (like which lesson they belong to), are neatly stored in a special database. We use Supabase for this – it’s like a really well-organized digital library where each “fingerprint” points you directly to a specific idea within our lessons.

The AI Understands Your Question!

Now, when you use the search on our website, here’s what happens:

1. Your question also becomes a “digital fingerprint”: As soon as you type in your query, our clever AI instantly turns your question into the same kind of “digital fingerprint” that we have stored in our “idea library.”
2. It finds the most similar “fingerprints”: Next, the system gets to work! It compares your question’s “digital fingerprint” with all the thousands of “fingerprints” in our database. It’s not just looking for matching words, but for similarity in meaning. For example, if you ask, “How do I make a design look good on a phone?”, the AI will find sections about “responsive design” or “mobile optimization,” even if you didn’t use those exact words in your query!
3. The best answers are right there for you: Once it finds the closest “digital fingerprints,” the system pulls out the corresponding text snippets from our lessons and sorts them by how relevant they are in terms of meaning. The most helpful answers, of course, appear right at the top!
